Measurement technology / Laboratory IT
The Metrology/IT Group is responsible for providing and maintaining the IT infrastructure of the SPIEZ LABORATORY local network. This includes the server, clients, peripheral equipment, the requisite network infrastructure, as well as all installed standard and specialist software. The group is also in charge of the IT infrastructure of the DDPS Intervention Team (EEVBS) and the mobile monitoring laboratory of the Radiology Group.
Main activities:
- Planning, procurement, installation, commissioning, documentation and running of MessLAN (the SPIEZ LABORATORY local network).
- Ensuring compatibility during the development, updating and upgrading of hard and software for MessLAN.
- IT support and advice for the various specialist divisions within the SPIEZ LABORATORY, especially during the evaluation and procurement of complex laboratory and analytical systems as well as the software which these products require.
- Responsibility for IT security in the SPIEZ LABORATORY.
- Provision of first- and second-level support in relation to MessLAN. It is also the interface for these activities within the office automation network.
- Support of engineers sent by external suppliers and the Armed Forces Command Support Organisation - AFSCO (office automation support).
- Development of plans to solve interface problems in relation to laboratory/analytical systems and when transferring data between different systems.
