NBC protection technology

The working group NBC protection technology is a classic transdisciplinary field of the SPIEZ LABORATORY: the acquired specialist nuclear, biological and chemical protection knowledge is developed, and then used to test and improve NBC protection technologies.
First and foremost the SPIEZ LABORATORY tests and analyses NBC protective systems developed by industrial manufacturers. The knowledge acquired serves as an important basis for decisions on procurement projects of government services. In part they become integrated again in the technological advancement of protective systems. These activities are so extensive that a separate unit – the NBC Protection Technology Group – has been set up to carry out this work.
SPIEZ LABORATORY activities in relation to NBC protection technology cover:
- Development and introduction of new testing and simulation procedures to guarantee comprehensive NBC protection
- Development of the theoretical and experimental bases in relation to adsorption and filter technology
- Development of the theoretical and experimental bases in relation to transient mechanical loads following conventional and nuclear explosions
- Testing personal and collective NBC protective material, as well as entire protection systems
- Testing equipment and installations of civilian and military protective structures
- Providing expert reports and appraisals on the impact and protection against NBC incidents
- Specialist technical support of Armasuisse and the NBC protection centre of expertise of the army in the procurement of NBC protective material and systems
Accredited testing laboratories
- Testing laboratory for adsorbents and breathing apparatus filters STS 022
- Testing laboratory for synthetics and rubber STS 036
- Testing laboratory for NBC protective material STS 055
