Radioactivity

In order to reliably establish the level of radioactivity, it is necessary to determine the exact composition and concentration of the relevant radioactive substances (radionuclides). Our instruments und analytical test methods enable us to precisely determine the concentration of radionuclides in the environment (air, water, ground, vegetation), in food or other materials.

For these tasks we use instruments for analytical methods that are based on the non-destructive measurement and evaluation of gamma ray emission of the test material. We also use radiochemical analytical methods that rely on extracting the relevant radionuclides from the test material for measuring and evaluating the nuclear decay (alpha and beta radiation). Mass spectrometry may also be used for determining radionuclide content.
